Overview
Survival Hospital is a newly established, district-level private hospital operating in compliance with the Private Hospital (Regulation) Act (Cap 151). The facility has launched all major units, including Pharmacy, Laboratory, Labour & Delivery, Theatre, RCH, Maternity, Radiology, Emergency, Neonatal, Mortuary, and In-Patient Wards. It offers a conducive working environment with reliable road access, water, and electricity. The hospital invites self-motivated professionals to join as Medical Doctors (MD) to deliver quality, accessible, and sustainable healthcare services.
Position Summary
The Medical Doctor will provide comprehensive patient care through accurate diagnosis, effective treatment, and preventive health measures. The role includes managing both outpatient and inpatient cases, responding to emergencies, supervising junior clinical staff, and ensuring adherence to medical ethics and hospital policies. The MD plays a key role in improving patient outcomes, advancing community health, and upholding the hospital’s mission.
Key Roles and Responsibilities
Examine patients, take medical histories, and request/interpret diagnostic tests.
Provide accurate diagnoses and prescribe appropriate treatments.
Offer preventive care, health education, and counseling to patients and families.
Refer patients to specialists where necessary and coordinate multidisciplinary care.
Supervise and mentor junior medical staff, interns, and Clinical Officers.
Ensure proper documentation of all patient records per hospital policy.
Participate in clinical meetings, case reviews, and continuous professional development.
Uphold professional ethics; comply with hospital policies, national regulations, and patient-safety standards.
Provide emergency care, including on-call duties.
Contribute to research, audits, and quality-improvement initiatives.
Perform procedures permitted within scope and hospital requirements.
Qualification Requirements
A. Academic/Education
Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree from a recognized university.
Completion of a one-year internship at a recognized health facility.
Valid registration and license to practice from the Medical Council of Tanganyika (MCT).
B. Knowledge and Experience
Strong clinical knowledge across general medicine and patient care.
Understanding of hospital procedures, infection prevention and control, and medical ethics.
2–3 years’ post-internship experience in a hospital/clinical setting.
Familiarity with emergency care plus outpatient and inpatient management.
Experience supervising junior staff and collaborating in multidisciplinary teams.
Skills and Competence
Excellent diagnostic and clinical decision-making skills.
Strong communication and interpersonal abilities with patients and staff.
Ability to handle emergencies and work under pressure.
Proven supervision and mentorship capability.
High standards of professionalism, confidentiality, and ethical conduct.
Teamwork and collaboration in a multidisciplinary environment.
